Black Pastors United for Education to Host Dr. Cornel West in Harrisburg

On Monday, November 18, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., Black Pastors United for Education will host Dr. Cornel West for a moderated discussion on the state of education, the significance and role of the media, and the contemporary role of the church. The event is free and open to the public and will be held at The Rock Church (1501 Market Street; Harrisburg, PA 17103).

“Dr. Cornel West will lend tremendous wisdom to what the future of education could look like,” said Rev. Joshua C. Robertson, Senior Pastor of The Rock Church and founder and CEO of Black Pastors United for Education, who will moderate the discussion.

Dr. Cornel West, affectionately known to many as Brother West, is the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Chair at Union Theological Seminary.

Dr. West teaches on the works of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, as well as courses in Philosophy of Religion, African American Critical Thought, and a wide range of subjects — including but by no means limited to, the classics, philosophy, politics, cultural theory, literature, and music. He has a passion to communicate to a vast variety of publics in order to keep alive the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. – a legacy of telling the truth and bearing witness to love and justice.

Dr. West is also the former Professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy at Harvard University and Professor Emeritus at Princeton University.

Most recently, Dr. West was a 2024 candidate for United States president.
